Grilled Cinnamon Apples

Grilled Cinnamon Apples, Grilled Apple Slices Simple, sweet and economical, grilled cinnamon apples are a great grilled dessert idea.

Crisp Granny Smith apples provide a tart flavor that goes well with the cinnamon sugar coating.

Other apple variaties like Fuji, Macintosh and Jonathons work well too.

Use your closed countertop electric grill for quickest results.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 Granny Smith apples
  • 3 tablespoons white cane sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Wash and dry the apples. Cut off the top and bottom of each, and then slice the remainder into three even slices, 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. Combine the cinnamon and sugar.

Press the apple slices into the cinnamon sugar. Try to get as much of the sugar to stick to the apples as you can.

Grilled Cinnamon Apples, Grilled Apple Slices I prefer to use my countertop grill for these. It cooks both sides at the same time, which speeds things up. Place the slices onto the grill and close the top. Cook for about 10 minutes, until the apples are just tender.

These can be cooked on your charcoal or gas grill too. Place the slices in a shallow baking pan, and grill with indirect, medium heat until tender. No need to turn the apples. Remove when tender, or if you begin to smell burning sugar. Nothing ruins a recipe worse than the taste of burnt sugar!

For added richness, brush the finished grilled apple slices with hot, melted butter before serving. And a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit!
